Before hitting the kitchen at New York City eatery “Sweet Chick” to create a curry chicken and waffles dish, Pro Era lyricist Joey Bada$$ spoke on the significance of his B4.Da.$$ record, “Curry Chicken” with First We Feast.

While speaking with Sweet Chick founder John Seymour, Joey revealed that the Statik Selektah-produced record significance ties into him leaving home and “taking on the world,” but always having a home to come back to as long as the curry chicken is still there.

“Curry chicken is something to me that’s always been close to home,” Bada$$ said. “In the hook, it’s basically me leaving home and just taking on the world. It’s like me telling my mom, me telling my pops ‘I got y’all backs. I got my own back too. You ain’t gotta worry about nothing as long as I come home for some curry chicken or some dinner. As long as I got that curry chicken and dinner I’m coming home to.’ So, that’s what ‘Curry Chicken’ mean to me. Home is where the heart is. Curry chicken is in there.”
