Eminem, who produced the track, had just signed 50 to his new imprint, Shady Records.

“’Patiently Waiting’ was one of the first beats I sent Fif,” he says within the visual. “[It] just had the chello… the strings on it and the drums.”

Although the production was raw, 50 admired the sound and found it easy to write to.

“It had enough for me to know the tempo and the feel of it,” he says. “And those words came out.”

Em and Fif used the song to announce to the world that 50’s deal with Shady was legit. Within the track, Em raps about his protege’s skills and reeling him in.

“That was the whole thing to make it sound official … 50 is officially with us,” he says.
