Days after Howard Greenberg, lawyer to rapper Bobby Shmurda, shared his belief that “the government hates rap” and rappers, Jimmy Henchman has come forward to offer a similar opinion. While speaking exclusively with AllHipHop.com about Shmurda’s arrest, Henchman stated that Hip Hop “is under attack.”

The former music executive also referenced his own ordeal with the legal system while addressing Shmurda’s recent arrest.

“With everything happening with Bobby Shmurda there’s a need for a rap expert on deck, because the culture is under attack,” Henchman said while speaking with AllHipHop.com. “If they can use 50’s lyrics against me as an executive to prove murder then we all in trouble.”

Last week, the Brooklyn, New York rapper and members of his GS9 crew were arrested while at Quad City Studios in New York City.

As a result of the arrest, the rapper faces a number of charges including conspiracy to commit murder, assault in the first degree, possession of weapons, intent to sell and possession of narcotics, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree on two counts.

Among those to address Shmurda’s arrest was his lawyer, Howard Greenberg. While speaking on the arrest with XXLMag.com, Greenberg commented on Shmurda and others in Hip Hop being targeted by authorities.

“Let me give you some context,” Greenberg said last week. “The government hates rap and the government hates rappers. They target these guys and construct a narrative around them and then they rationalize the narrative in order to get an indictment. I had said previously, it’s a bunch of bullshit. What they do is they recruit guiltless, loveless people who are truthless that are jealous of brothers on the way up and they get them to implicate them.”

Earlier this month, the currently-incarcerated Jimmy Henchman was found guilty of murder-for-hire in the 2009 murder of G-Unit affiliate, Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher. Henchman is already serving a life sentence on drug charges.
