A little over one year after Los Angeles, California rapper Hopsin revealed his plans to move to Australia, the musician has officially embarked on his move to the country. In addition to confirming his move to Australia, Hopsin announced that he’s also quitting rap.

In a post uploaded to Instagram today (December 17), the West Coast wordsmith thanked his fans for their support and concluded that music isn’t a profession that’s for him. He later added that he’s signed his half of his Funk Volume label to his business partner, and also wished the best of luck to fellow artists Swizzz, Dizzy Wright, and Jarren Benton.

Along with a photo of himself at the airport, Hopsin added the following message:

“I just wanted to take time out to say I appreciate all of u who have supported my music over these past few years. A Lot of u have told me stories about how I have changed your life. You too have changed mine in ways that u can never imagine. Unfortunately, tonight is the night that I am actually moving away to Australia. Over the past couple years I have come to conclusion that this profession just isn’t for me, so im going to venture out into new areas of life. I will always be an MC at heart, but this rap stuff just isn’t for me. I hope Youguys can respect it. I’ve signed over my half of the funk volume label to my business partner Dame. I also wished Swizzz, Dizzy Wright and Jarren Benton good luck in their careers. Thank u all! I’m out.”

“After the world tour I want to take a break for a year and just live—and I’mma move to Australia and just find myself,” Hopsin said during an interview with SKEE TV. “And just live a—cater to my personal life more than the career side of everything. Cause it’s kinda stressful right now… The people there are so cool. I like the vibe. I like new places and I like the fact that I’m gonna be there and I’m just gonna not really know anybody.

“There will be fans who know me and all that, but I’m just gonna be there,” he added. “I’m not gonna have any real friends and I can start from scratch. I’m gonna be in an area where nobody’s gonna know where I’m at. I’m just [gonna] walk down the street and just meet people. And just make new, organic friends off of me just being Marcus, hopefully.”

In the length of his music career, Hopsin has released a handful of albums including Raw, and most recently, 2013’s Knock Madness.
