Despite his recent notoriety in the news following a handful of arrests, former Hot 97 personality Mister Cee says that if the Notorious B.I.G. was alive today, he would be proud of him.

Mister Cee was asked about the late rapper during an exclusive interview with XXLMag.com. He revealed that the rapper would have likely been supportive when he was arrested and charged with patronizing a prostitute, but added that Biggie would have clowned him as well.

“That’s a question I get asked a lot, just by personal friends of mine,” Mister Cee said. “If Biggie was alive right now, he would definitely be proud of what I’ve accomplished. If Biggie was alive and I still was doing tributes to him, he would probably be like, ‘Yo, man stop that shit. What the fuck are you doing?’ He probably would want me to stop going so hard for him. As far as what I went through, the unfortunate circumstances that I went through, he would definitely be behind me but he would be clowning me all day. He would probably be sending me gift cards for a Marriott hotel, like, ‘Nigga, go get a hotel,’ or something like that. Biggie was a clown and a lot of people didn’t really get to know that. Or sending me e-mails with date websites or some shit like that, like, ‘Bro, check this out when you get a chance.’ [He would] be doing some dumb shit like that but he would definitely be supportive.”

Mister Cee also discussed his resignation from Hot 97 last month. He revealed that “it’s for real this time” and has been something that’s been on his mind for five years now. According to the deejay, Funkmaster Flex was one of the reasons he chose to stay as long as he did.

“As far as my decision, this has been on my mind for five years now, that eventually I was going to leave the station. Nothing negative, nothing happened,” he said. “I was never asked to leave. But mentally and spiritually it’s been on my mind for five years to leave the station. The only thing that kind of kept me going through the last five years of staying is my brother Funkmaster Flex. The one that always, when I would have problems with the station, he would be like, ‘Let’s ride this out. Let’s continue and keep doing this.’ I was only kind of staying because of him.”

Lastly, Mister Cee shared that following his resignation from Hot 97, he hopes to continue with his radio career.

“I would love to continue to be on radio if the opportunity arises,” Cee said. “I would love to do radio whether it’s on-air or [other] programming. I would love to take a shot at being a program director or a music director at a radio station. I would love to continue to be in the music industry in any form. If an offer came to me in regards to working at a record label, depending on the situation, I would love to. Music is in my blood. I’m still going to DJ parties. I’m still booked up to DJ parties.”
