For those looking to live on the edge and drive a vehicle for thrills rather than simply running errands and taking children to soccer games, the Lexus RC F coupe is not only a visual treat but also a joy for the truly passionate. Key influencer HipHopDX editor in chief Justin Hunte has given the RC F an early spin and he speaks with much praise for the coupe, saying “From mic to plug, test driving the Lexus RC F was exhilarating! Drifting around corners at 80 MPH and going 0 to 100 in six seconds flat, then 130 MPH tight to the ground with no rattling — few things make the heart pump faster, but what impresses me most is the vehicle itself. Driving the Lexus RC F is like starring in your favorite race car video game where you have the comforts of your couch, except you’re actually traveling 150 mph!”

With more than 450 horsepower, a 5.0-liter V8 engine and a new eight speed automatic gearbox, the rush of fast motion is exhilarating while drivers are able to maintain comfortable steering control. Though it falls under the umbrella of high performance, the car is meant to appeal to a wide variety of people according to RC F chief engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi who says “I’ve built the RC F to be enjoyed by all enthusiasts – no matter what their level of expertise.”

Performance!

Based on the RC coupe, the F performance model was revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit as a vehicle that maximizes both power and precision. A first for Lexus, the RC F’s performance engine uses the Atkinson cycle at cruising speeds for lower gas consumption (19 city and 28 highway) and switches to the Otto cycle at higher rpm (revolutions per minute) for more impressive performance,. Continuing to explain the car’s general usefulness, Yaguchi says “There’s a misconception that racing cars are hard to drive. They’re easy in the right hands because they’ve been purpose-built for the skill level of their drivers. It’s the same with the RC F.”  The RC F has TVD (Torque Vectoring Differential) which provides three different operational modes, standard, slalom, and track. Standard allows for balance and stability while driving. Slalom focuses on the steering response. Track keeps the vehicle stable, especially while applying more throttle during cornering. Smooth driving for all and as Lexus says “Performance is in your control.”

Wrapped In Safety

Lexus has taken extra measures to ensure their drivers safety, afterall it is Lexus’ priority. Advance blind spot monitor alerts the driver when a vehicle is a little too close to bare as well as when a vehicle is speeding in the rear. Pre-collision system, is a detection operation that not only warns the driver of a possible frontal collision but aids in applying the brake assist to help reduce impact. Rain assist activates the windshield wipers as soon as rain starts, assuring that the driver has visibility at all times. These are only a few of the Lexus RC F’s safety features that make it appealing.

Adding new features to the body of the RC coupe, the Lexus RC F features its own version of the Lexus signature spindle grille which takes over the front of the vehicle. The grille has a subtle F-mesh pattern on the lower half and a distinct front hood which raises the vehicle’s peak and creates a powerful side view. The design is also similar to the Lexus LFA supercar in terms of essential air cooling and aerodynamics. The RC F’s hood air vent combined with front cooling ducts make sure to maintain the engine’s temperature along with overall vehicle stability. Also much like the LFA, an active rear spoiler is incorporated into the trunk lid to provide down force at speeds of more than 50 mph. Internally The Lexus RC F is full of components that connect with drivers from the steering wheel, to highly developed combination meters, ornamentation and pedals. Designed for exceptional holding performance, the all new high end back seats have an integrated foaming technique which creates a seat with extra support due to trim material that stays fixed.
