As part of Salvatore Ferragamo’s “A Man’s Story” campaign, Harlem, New York rapper A$AP Rocky recalled performing at his very first show. The A$AP Mob lyricist revealed that his first show came about after he was invited to perform a handful of songs at the ALIFE clothing boutique in New York City in 2011.

He said that upon arriving at the boutique he was surprised to see a large line of people waiting to see him perform. Rocky then explained that he was even more taken aback to see a handful of fans dressed similar to him.

“I was at this event,” A$AP Rocky said. “They wanted me to come by and do three songs,” he explained. “And when I say it was like a line around the corner, people couldn’t even get in and I just kept thinking to myself, ‘Geez, all of these people are here for me. Oh man, this can’t be real.’ It’s my first time, it’s my first show. It’s right after I released the video. So, I’m like ‘Geez, man. This is kinda incredible.'”

After the show, Rocky revealed that he was so happy he was ultimately moved to tears. He explained that due to the response he received from fans at the ALIFE show, he felt he “made it.”

“It turned out crazy,” he said. “People were dressed how they saw me dressing in the video…And when I got in the car on my way home, I cried. Cause I was happy. And that’s when I felt like I made it.”

In addition to A$AP Rocky, Ferragamo’s “A Man’s Story” campaign also features the New York Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist and designer Louis-Marie de Castelbajac.
