Rick Ross released his second album of 2014 yesterday (November 24) when he dropped Hood Billionaire. As opposed to Mastermind, Ross’ earlier effort, the album didn’t contain as many Maybach Music Group features, something Ross attributed to timing and artist availability.

Recently speaking with HipHopSince1987, the MMG headman explained his feature selection for the album, which had a lot to do with Meek Mill’s recent unavailability.

“It was one of them things that fell into place last minute. Meek [Mill] being locked up it was just one of those things [that made me] want to put a different spin on it. 2015 when we kick it off it’s going to be a real big year.”

Conducting the interview in an Atlanta neighborhood, Ross also explained the meaning behind Hood Billionaire’s title, relaying that it isn’t necessarily all about the money but rather street reputation.

“That’s what a hood billionaire is,” Ross said when asked about the title of the album. “It ain’t based on the type of money you is [it’s about] somebody who inspire you and when you see them coming down the street as a shorty and you stop and you point, that was a hood billionaire.”

Finally, when asked whether he would do a collaborative album with Meek Mill after the Philadelphia native’s release from prison this coming year, Rick Ross noted that Meek’s forthcoming solo album would be the first thing on the docket for the rapper.
