According to Atlanta, Georgia rapper Soulja Boy, the positions held by the likes of Jay Z and Snoop Dogg will soon be replaced by the artists representing the new generation of rappers. The “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” star then dubbed himself “the leader of the new school.”

Among the artists Soulja mentioned while speaking on the new generation of rappers were RiFF RaFF, Kevin Gates, and Bobby Shmurda.

“It’s gonna be all new artists coming out,” Soulja Boy said during an interview with Steve Lobel. “Bobby Shmurda, he about to turn up. I just look at it as like a lot of new artists coming in the game. A whole new industry…The industry is gonna change. And the industry is gonna repeat itself. The OGs is getting older. The young Gs we growing up. We gonna fill the positions that y’all was filling. The Snoop Doggs and the Jay Zs…We just gotta get the business organized. I see me being at the top of the game. I’m the leader of the new school. Cause when I came in people didn’t understand it. And now here we are seven years later and people is all around it, eating it up.”

Prior to speaking on becoming “the leader of the new school,” Soulja Boy spoke on his work producing. He revealed that he taught himself how to produce because he was tired of using instrumentals from other rappers. As a result, he says he produced 90 percent of his debut album, SouljaBoyTellEm.com.

“I got tired of rapping on instrumentals,” he said. “So, I found this software called FL Studio. And I made my first beat at the crib. It was aight. It wasn’t all that, but it was straight enough to rap on. So, after I did that I got better and better over the years. I dropped my first album SouljaBoyTell.com and went platinum. I produced 90 percent of the album. I really produced the album. And then, you know, they had one producer come in and add like one beat or two beats. But I always been a producer. I really fell off as a producer because I got lazy…After I been dropping these mixtapes and all that I said ‘You know what? Let me get back to making beats.’ Cause every time I go somewhere they say ‘Soulja, what’s up with those beats? Soulja, let me get a beat.’ And I ain’t want niggas thinking I was being mean. But I just—I’m not into making beats right now.”

In regards to what he’s working on currently, Soulja Boy says he’s working on projects from a variety of artists at Cash Money including Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne.
