Taking to Instagram yesterday (September 2) to post performance footage of himself on stage, Young Thug referred to Birdman as his lover in the caption of the video. The video and caption comes just days after the rapper posted an image of a since-deleted MediaTakeout story claiming Young Thug was “gay bashing” and had threatened to “shoot a popular Atlanta transgender.”

The Birdman referencing caption was attached to a video showing Young Thug shaking hands with the Cash Money Records co-founder during a concert. “Me and my lover dripping!!!! Like always!!!” he wrote. “@birdman5star fuck with me fool….”

In May, Birdman spoke about his own hopes for Young Thug’s career, predicting that the Atlanta rapper could become a “superstar.”

“I think a lot of rappers—niggas now just rapping a lot,” Birdman said. “And it don’t take a lot of rap to make a hit record,” Birdman said. “You know, you got the Wayne and the Drakes who really take songs and don’t rap at all. Might sing on a song. Might do just a little rapping. That’s what I see in him. He one of them that can do that. You know, Wayne developed into doing all these different things. And you got these young artists who really, Wayne is the mold for them. They watched Wayne. They studied Wayne. And he coming in the game like that. To me that put him on a higher level. Our plan as YMCMB and Rich Gang is to make him a superstar, a rock star.”

In an interview released last week, T.I. spoke briefly on Young Thug’s fashion sense and the strong response his wearing dresses and painted nails has incited.

“I think so, I think he’s aware of it,” T.I. said when asked about the rapper. “I think he’s aware of it and I think he embraces it.”
