In the midst of a tumultuous week of politics and current events at home and abroad, a Rick Ross and Game feature on Jeezy’s latest single helped the rapper climb to the top of HipHopDX’s Top 10. A very rough version of a possibly new Kanye West single leaked and set the Internet abuzz, even shooting to the top of Billboard and Twitter’s recently unveiled Trending 140 Chart. A DJ Mustard posse cut rounds out the Top 3 with verses from YG, Lil Boosie, Lil Wayne, and Big Sean.

The rest of the list includes a tribute to Mike Brown penned by J. Cole, a throwback clip of Eminem battle rapping in 1996, and two HipHopDX lists.

Rick Ross & Game Join Jeezy On “Beautiful”

Now just over two weeks away from Jeezy’s upcoming Seen It All release, the Atlanta rapper let loose another single this week. With producer Black Metaphor offering up a laid back track, all three emcees kick reflective lifestyle boasts. “Front yard like a soccer field and we kickin’ it,” Game raps, “Sick condos, pocket full of Rondos / Choppers with extended clips as long as El Segundo.”

Kanye West’s “All Day” Snippet Leaks

A rumored and unofficial first single to Kanye West’s upcoming album, “All Day” leaked early in the week. While the track has yet to be released, Noiseyreports that “All Day” quickly shot up Billboard’s Trending 140 Chart as a function of its popularity on Twitter. The song comes fresh off of Kanye’s recent GQ feature in which the rapper wonders outloud about the release date of his next album. “I go back and forth,” he said. “Like, should it be September or should it be October? Should it be November?”

During the GQ interview, West also broke down the recording process and seemed to allude to a big single that may end up being “All Day” in its final form. “For the new album, one new thing could change everything,” he said. “I had an idea of the way I wanted to do the album. And then I got a new song that’s so good that the album has to be balanced against it. This song is a song that can be in the club like “Don’t Like” or “Niggas in Paris.” Whereas before I was working on the album and I had these beautiful songs, they were just more songs. They weren’t saying, “Okay, tuck your whole summer in.” They were just saying, “Hey, I’m a great musician, I make these beautiful songs, and they have all this meaning, and nobody can make anything that means this much.”

DJ Mustard Enlists Lil Wayne, Big Sean, YG, & Lil Boosie

With the producer’s 10 Summers album now available on Google Play, Mustard’s “Face Down” climbed into the Top 3 of DX’s list this week. Pulled from an album featuring rappers like Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Fabolous, 2 Chainz, Jeezy, and more, “Face Down” finds Lil Boosie offering up the hook and each emcee holding down a verse of their own about sexual conquests. “I got a Philly bitch always playing Meek shit,” YG raps, “My ex says I’m a dog, well, put me on a leash then.”

On Thursday, HipHopDX released a list of things we learned about DJ Mustard’s album at a listening session. With news that Kendrick Lamar was supposed to be featured on 10 Summers and that DJ Mustard will get a credit on Wayne’s upcoming album, the producer explained what held the release back. “I just thought I’d switch it up and that’s what slowed my album down really ‘cause I was thinking of it as a club aspect, so when you in the club you can’t just play a slow song right after a fast song. Something has to be in the middle of that to break it down, so that was like my translation to breaking everything down.”
