DJ Mustard says that working with San Francisco Bay Area acts IamSu! and AKAFrank on his 10 Summers album represents a “Bay to LA” vibe.

“It’s something to do for the Bay, man,” DJ Mustard said of his “Can’t Tell Me Shit” song during an exclusive interview with HipHopDX that premiered in the DX Daily today (August 11). “There’s always controversy about do I get along with the people from the Bay. Me and Su got a cool relationship. I feel like it was time for us to do something, so we did it on my album.”

In June, Oakland rapper Mistah F.A.B. discussed the music from his city, which he said had been appropriated by DJ Mustard. The two were reportedly involved in a June altercation, but have since moved past the incident.

“One thing that we never wanted it to be was a California Bay Area versus LA thing because that becomes bigger than Rap,” Mistah F.A.B. says during an exclusive interview with HipHopDX that also premiered in the DX Daily today. “That becomes outside of our hands where many people get involved and it becomes a flame that explodes, that can’t be drenched, that can’t be drowned out because it becomes bigger than he and I. So, luckily enough, he and I were able to build an understanding. That bridge of building, we moved forward and that’s a good thing.”
