Wu-Tang Clan Details "A Better Tomorrow" Challenges, Debuts "Ron O'Neal" On "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart"
RZA and Raekwon discuss "A Better Tomorrow" and challenges the group faced when crafting the upcoming album.
"We’re all striving for a better tomorrow,” RZA said. "Wu-Tang, we all have something in common with each other, a brotherhood, a respect. When we say a better tomorrow, we’re striving to make a better tomorrow for ourselves, but also to inspire a better tomorrow for the world.”
Raekwon, who reportedly had reservations about reuniting with Wu-Tang for the upcoming release, spoke on challenges the group faced when Stewart asked if the group’s challenges were creative, business or political.
"I would say it’s all of these things,” Raekwon said. "We’re trailblazers in the music business. We’re doing our job. I consider this a sport. So, I think it’s an important, as an athlete of music, to make sure you have your business together and make sure that you feel happy at whatever you want to do. You just gotta feel good about it and know that, at the end of the day, you got your i’s dotted and your t’s crossed in business because we have families. We go out there and work for our families. My thing is, if I’m not gonna see my children and I’m out here doing a job, I think it’s important for me to go out there, do what I say I’m gonna do, get back home to them and hit up Disneyland.”
Wu-Tang is prepping the release of A Better Tomorrow as well as their multi-million dollar album, Wu - Once Upon A Time In Shaolin.
In May, Wu-Tang announced a truce between RZA and Raekwon following a back-and-forth between the two regarding A Better Tomorrow.
During the group's The Daily Show appearance, they also presented their new single, "Ron O'Neal."
