Jermaine Dupri President of Virgin
Janet Jackson isnt the only huge star over at Virgin, add her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri as the other big name that can rival Ms. Jackson. Dupri was named as the president of Virgin Records urban music division and also announced that he will be bringing his So So Def imprint with him.
There is much speculation as to what lured Dupri to the presidents chair. Many have said that there was a $20 million payday while others have speculated that it was the fact that his girlfriend happened to be their biggest act.
"Everybody believes I'm over here because of Janet and for the money. It has nothing to do with that," he insisted to MTV. "I feel like today's market is open for anything. My goal is to get Virgin poppin' just like Lil Jon did [with TVT]. He made an independent look like a major. I'm at a major that don't look like a major. I'mma try and make it look major."
Be on the lookout for releases from Daz and ATL newcomer T-Waters in the near future.
