DJ Carisma Discusses Self-Titled Album, Mexican-American Culture's Impact On Her Music
Exclusive: "Coming from a Mexican-American background sets me apart in the world of Hip Hop."
DJ Carisma, who recently released her "Anyway" single, has an album on the way which is set to feature Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign and Sage The Gemini, among others. Her first single off the project is an example of what she says she hopes to accomplish with her album.
"I really wanted to introduce the world to a lot of newcomers that I'm a fan of, and mix them with some of my favorite established artists to create timeless feel good music," Carisma, who deejays on Los Angeles, California radio station Power 106, says in an exclusive statement to HipHopDX.
Carisma, who comes from a Mexican-American background, says her heritage has impacted her influences, as well as her work in Hip Hop.
"Coming from a Mexican-American background sets me apart in the world of Hip Hop," she says. "It's allowed me to add my own twist and flavor to things, and it's also helped me learn how to cater to all types of crowds."
The Santa Ana, California representative says her self-titled album is set to be released September 29.
