HipHopDX Readers Rank The Week's Albums: Common, Michael Jackson, Trey Songz
Common runs away with a victory as "Nobody's Smiling" tops the reader poll.
HipHopDX users were recently asked to rate the week's top charting Hip Hop albums.
The Ranker list, which HipHopDX uses to assess reader responses below, calculates the votes based on a "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" system and it creates a list with the data users input. Ranker lists the albums from top to bottom, based on the total number of votes and regardless of how many thumbs up a particular album gets. The order of the albums featured on the lists fluctuates as votes are cast.
Common earned the top spot with 261 thumbs up and 28 thumbs down for Nobody's Smiling. For some reason, readers argued about Common and 50 Cent in the comment section for the album sales article. "Common makes mature adult music," one anonymous commenter said. "50 is more cartoon music for trailer trash and wannabes, many people would rather support trash like 50 Cent because they think its 'cool' to support music about crack and guns instead of substance. Look how the 50 fans are bragging about how he flopped a single every week with no respect for the few fans he has left." Another user, also anonymous, disagreed: "50 music is full of substance you just a hater im not gonna even name tracks real fans know."
Beyond this, Michael Jackson followed with 89 thumbs up and 52 thumbs down for Xscape. Meanwhile, Trey Songz earned the #3 slot with Trigga's 77 thumbs up and 75 thumbs down. Pharrell's G I R L earned 63 thumbs up and 69 thumbs down. Iggy Azalea found herself in last place with The New Classic. Iggy's project earned 52 thumbs up and 104 thumbs down.
