Azad Right Reveals Musical Journey, Traveling's Influence On "Hello"

Exclusive: Azad Right explains his journey from learning instruments to music paying his bills.

Azad Right's "Hello" features a line in which the emcee says he's found his voice. After years of learning about music, Azad says it's been an interesting journey learning about this art.

"I grew up playing piano and violin, and then started rapping as a freshman in High School, so I've been pretty much making music my whole life," Azad says in an interview with HipHopDX. "But I don't think I found my voice or my 'Why' until a few years ago. Once I figured out what I wanted to say and how I wanted to say it, shit just started falling into place. I think every musician's dream is to get paid from their music, but it's a trip when it actually happens.

For Azad, this is something new to enjoy.

"I've been putting music online since 2011," he adds, "but only as of late has it actually started paying my bills."

"Hello" also includes a chorus that shouts out various cities, allowing Right to acknowledge that he feels at home nearly anywhere.

"I've traveled all over the U.S. and Europe, and it seems like there's something familiar about every city," he explains. "Whether it's the food, weather, women or whatever... I just find something to connect to that reminds me of home."

Fans shouldn't think this means Azad will be leaving Los Angeles anytime soon.

"With that said, L.A. is still the best place in the world," he adds.
