The initial claim of Ludacris selling DTP to Island Def Jam had initially appeared in the Lowdown section of the New York Daily News but now statements have been released that the whole issue is phony. Def Jam publicist Jana Fleisman said, "Luda has not sold DTP. He has entered into a joint venture with Island Def Jam Music Group."

According to Daily News, Sony Music and Warner Music were competing against Def Jam in a bidding war to purchase Disturbing Tha Peace, which along with Ludacris, includes rappers Shawnna, I-20, Lil' Fate, Tity Boi and Dolla Boy. However, DTP's co-CEO's Ludacris and his manager Chaka Zulu opted to stay with Def Jam, the legendary label that successfully catapulted DTP's southern roster to national attention. Luda countered the reports by saying Thats not true at all, thats funny.

Ludacris 5th album The Red Light District will be released next Tuesday Dec. 7th and featured appearances by Nate Dogg, Nas, Doug E Fresh, DJ Quik, Trick Daddy and Sleepy Brown.
