“Congrats Toronto on a hard fought series. #spreadloveitsthebrooklynway,” Jay Z says in a Twitter update, the emcee’s first since July 2013.

Jay Z was referenced during Game 1 of the series by Drake, an ambassador for the Toronto Raptors.
“Jay Z is somewhere eating a fondue plate,” Drake said at the time. “It’s our time. We’ve got to keep it competitive. This is an ironic match-up.”
In Game 6, the Brooklyn Nets featured Drake in the team’s home arena’s big screens. The rapper was filmed as if he were wearing a Nets jersey.

During this series, the Raptors also gave fans lint rollers inspired by Drake. A lint roller from this event was later sold on eBay for $55,000.
Drake and Jay Z have traded barbs throughout this year. During a February Rolling Stone interview, Drake critiqued Jay Z for art references in raps. Jay Z responded to the criticism on Jay Electronica’s “We Made It,” saying, “Sorry, Mrs. Drizzy, for so much art talk.”
