When asked about the current standing of his relationship with fellow rapper Jay Z, Brooklyn lyricist Memphis Bleek went on to break down the nature of his relationship with Hov during a newly-published interview with Mikey T The Movie Star.

Bleek revealed that his friendship with Jay Z goes far beyond Roc-A-Fella, Def Jam, or anything involving the music industry.

“This is what I want people to know, man. My relationship with Jay it has nothing to do with music,” he said. “It’s nothing to do with Roc-A-Fella. It has nothing to do with Roc Nation. It has nothing to do with Def Jam. It has nothing to do with radio, video, nothing industry, man. It’s straight from the bricks, man. Straight from ‘Let me borrow some sugar. My mom said we ain’t got no syrup. I need syrup. My mom—We need some butter.’ This is from that. That’s it. Our work will always be. Like we don’t have to work and we work. You know what I’m saying? I see Hov and I speak to him whenever I need to. That’s how we move.”

The former Roc-A-Fella Records rapper also spoke on his relationship with Beanie Sigel. He says that even though he’s had his ups and downs with Sigel, he still considers him family and is willing to swipe anything that happened in the past under the rug.

“Like I said, I’m the type of nigga that ain’t gon’ never change,” Memphis Bleek said. “If we was once brothers—Just like family members, I got cousins I don’t fuck with. I ain’t gonna shit on ‘em though. At the end of the day you still my cousin. We just don’t see eye to eye right now. You know what I’m saying? And that’s how I consider Beans. We family. I could never kick him while he down…And that’s my brother til the end, man. Anything that happen we can always swipe it under the rug.”

Lastly, Memphis Bleek recalled working with Rihanna towards the start of her music career on her record, “The One.”

“It was good, man. She was fresh from Barbados, talented. Everybody knew she was gonna be what she is today, a super-mega star,” he said. “And it just was that she needed that one record to show the world. That was it.”

Currently, Memphis Bleek assists Jay Z with promoting the Bacardi-owned D’usse cognac. In a past conversation with Mikey T The Movie Star, Bleek spoke on being approached by Jay about working with D’usse.

“I called Jay one day and I was just like ‘Yo, I been doing music since I was 16-years-old, man. I wanna do something different. Something that I think I can’t do,’” he said earlier this month. “And he was like ‘You ready to put this work in lil’ nigga?’ So, I’m like ‘Of course, man.’ He like ‘Come to the office.’ So, I come to the office or whatever. And then he had the bottle. He’s like ‘Yo, this this new liquor we pushing. I wanna bring you on board.’ So, I’m like ‘Whatever you want me to do I’m there.’ And he was like ‘Let’s see what you can do.’ And ever since then I been out there pushing cases like dope.”
