During an appearance at the adidas global brand conference in Germany this month, Chicago rapper Kanye West offered an update on the status of the YEEZIs (formerly the Air Yeezys), a sneaker collection he previously released through Nike.
According to ‘Ye, fans will get their first look at the new YEEZIs this June. The wordsmith shared the news after expressing his desire to create the best product possible for the consumer.
“I have to create. And I don’t care how crazy I look to anyone as long as I can make the best product for all of you. So, in June we’ll see the new YEEZIs,” Kanye said, in a video posted on MissInfo.tv.

While speaking to the audience at Germany’s Brose Arena, Kanye explained why he’s so passionate about creating sneakers and other products. And unlike past speeches, he put aside comparisons to the late Steve Jobs and Walt Disney and instead revealed that the opportunity to collaborate with a company like adidas allows him to be himself.
“To get to the point to be able to make your own shoe and have people react to it was such an amazing feeling that I can never let that go…It’s nothing I love more than to sit there and put the fabrics together and think about the way people will react to the creations in real life,” he said. “The way they can use these products, shoes, coats, jackets, in real life. And I know it just looks weird when you see someone that’s so famous for one thing attempt to create in a different space…Today I’m not coming to you saying ‘Hey, I wanna be the next Walt Disney and the next Steve Jobs.’ My usual stuff I usually say. I’m saying with this opportunity to create I feel like I can be myself.”
In a past interview, Kanye informed fans that he created both a men’s and women’s collection for adidas. He also revealed that both collections would be available in stores this September.

“We designed the entire women’s collection,” Kanye said in an interview with Chicago, Illinois radio station 107.5 in December. “We designed the entire men’s collection. And we designed 20 shoes. We coming in September and it’s about to be a paradigm shift.”
