Scott Storch Says 50 Cent Could Have The Next Interscope Records

Scott Storch speaks on his work with those at Interscope Records, says Jimmy Iovine is at the top of the chain of command.

As an artist who has worked with 50 Cent on numerous occasions, producer Scott Storch went on to express his confidence in 50 and the Queens rapper’s new deal with Caroline/Capitol/UMG during a recent interview with Mikey T The Movie Star. 50 Cent’s independent deal also marks the end of the G-Unit helmsman’s deal with Interscope Records, his label home for well over a decade.

According to Storch, 50 was able to learn a great deal about the music business during his time at Interscope and even has the ability to become the owner of the next Interscope Records.

“I definitely believe he knows what he’s doing with business,” Storch said. “And shit, his training wheels came off a long time ago. So, if he’s free now from a deal where he made a major, major company [and] major, major cash. He knows the blueprint. He knows how to do it. So, why not do it for yourself? It’s all growing. We don’t know this, but at some point in the future 50 Cent could be the owner of the next Interscope Records.”

During his interview with Mikey T The Movie Star, Storch was also asked about his experience working with Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre, and Eminem. He spoke on the camaraderie between the trio and stated that Iovine is the individual who tops the chain of command.

“There’s a loyalty amongst them,” the beatsmith said. “I believe that like they all work with each other to create incredible music, man. It’s kind of a difficult question to answer. But, you know, there’s a chain of command with the Interscope system. It starts with Jimmy.”

In addition to speaking on 50 Cent’s ability to become the head of the next Interscope Records, Storch later credited the rapper on his ability to use his music to open doors to other business ventures.

“In certain areas and certain streams? No,” Storch said when asked if producers are still making as much money as they used to. “But in other ones? Yeah. I mean, there’s definitely money to make. But the way we make our money [has] just changed. Having music out there and using the music as just simply a form to, or a marketing tool to create other deals. 50 Cent’s like really one of the people that really took advantage of that and utilized his music to take him to other places.”

Although 50 Cent and Scott Storch have not worked together recently, Storch did work with the Jamaica, Queens rapper on both “Candy Shop” and “Just A Lil Bit.”

Following his return to music last year, Storch has worked with a handful of artists including the Clipse’s Pusha T and Bronx lyricist Fat Joe.

"The nigga is already rich off all his investments he just puts out music for fun" So he's doing all this for free now? lol The music biz is a serious industry. No part of it is fun & games, as evidenced by Curtis being shelved for 4 years while even Game managed to release 2 albums.

just sayin he could retire and go away if he wanted to he doesnt need to rap to pay his bills or feed his fam

any artist will tell you once they lose the passion for making music because it's no longer FUN, is when they contemplate retiring "evidenced by Curtis being shelved for 4 years while even Game managed to release 2 albums." ^ evidence? LOL I can interpret that as "the label wanted Game to hurry up and finish so he can GTFOH asap and wanted 50 to wait 4 years because he already would have been gone and a greatest hits album wasn't gonna cut it" simple view to show you really don't know WTF you're talking about

"I'm supposed to believe you know more without ever being in the game?" Why hasn't Curtis ever owned a label then, genius? He's got the money, and if being indie is so great, it should be a piece of cake for him to do something big like this now.

G-Unit Records is a label, distributed by Shady/Aftermath/Universal then, Capitol/Universal now only an idiot will think he could move 4-8m now, even the so-called hottest album out The Heist isn't even close to those numbers and as much as the great Hov has, he's still signing p&d deals, puffy too, baby too, but 50 Cent has to be the one to own another Warner Bros you've got that hate in your blood

Let's all be real 50 is a one hit wonder. Get rich or die trying was his best album. I still bump them tracks till today. Besides that piggy bank was dope but we all know kiss Jada kiss bodied 50 on animal diss!

50 can't run a label. That takes a roster of talent all performing on the same level, plus major hype, and exposure 24/7. Maybe after The Massacre sold a million first week he could have attempted this, but in today's climate, no way.

Selling records doesn't make money anymore. You think 50 wants to struggle to go platinum and have to spend 200 days out of the year on tour? The nigga is already rich off all his investments he just puts out music for fun.

that's when u fell off. when u in it for fun not for the blood and sweat

"that's when u fell off. when u in it for fun not for the blood and sweat" ^ this is absolute nonsense and why the music is suffering that mentality says "just put out some songs to get paid", and you end up with 100 songs sounding the same that ain't even good in the first place

Scott Storch understands that I'm actually in a space both financially and mentally where I can progress with the marketing dollars that the general audience can appeal to. I'm consistently in a space where I'm financially spacial and actually progressive to where Interscope wouldn't want to jeapordize my space mentally. The general public's response to this record will actually show I'm in a comfortable enough space to actually space my financial actuality. Everyone get me?
    • The Real 50 Cent
Scott Storch understands that he's as irrelevant as me in the music game at this point and is willing to do tracks for any artist much like me. If any rappers wanna do a collab hit me up at 50@50cent.com
    • 50 Cent
Scott Storch understands that unless he has a hit record that can generate the interest of the general public, he'll actually be in a space where he's not financially stable. I've been consistently number 1 year after year, and its allowed me to be in a space where I'm actually generating the actual space and marketing dollars spent on the campaign. The album reflects about the actual realities of the neighborhood I grew up in, and it allows me to be in a space where I can prospers in both outer space and in actuality.

I haven't released an album in almost 4 years and it only went GOLD and that was back when people still bought albums. I tried to use Eminem to get myself some buzz last year but still no one cared. My album will be a complete flop because no one cares about about me anymore. Fortunately Coke bought Vitamin Water and so I'm still rich.

50 Cent can't even maintain his own GUNIT label, he lacks the leadership skills to run a successful label, he doesent have the personal skills to attract talent or the business smarts to keep a label running.
  • lmao
