This week, Pharrell's "Happy" remained in the #1 slot in the R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. The chart also features several other R&B and Rap artists, including Jason Derulo, 2 Chainz, Aloe Blacc, Jay Z and Beyonce.

Pharrell "Happy" Is #1

Pharrell recently spoke with HipHopDX about this project. "I wanted to stick to my subject matter, which was my full spectrum version of appreciation for women—which is why I named the album G  I  R  L," Pharrell said in the HipHopDX exclusive. "That’s capital letters with two spaces between each letter. I just wanted to focus in on that."

Aloe Blacc "The Man" is #4

Aloe Blacc, who is a rapper and a singer, has often discussed his various influences. "The earliest lyricists that I would listen to would be UTFO, KRS-One, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Nas. But then, after a little while, I started to pay attention to other styles of music and fell in love with Folk music," Aloe Blacc said in a 2013 Interscope interview. This influence can be heard on the rapper-singer's most recent release, Wake Me Up EP
