Young Jack Thriller Reacts To 50 Cent's Shady/Aftermath/Interscope Departure

Exclusive: The popular comedian also announces upcoming comedy show and cypher series.

ThisIs50 host and comedian, Young Jack Thriller shared his reaction to the announcement that 50 Cent has left Shady Records/Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records.

“I am shocked,” the Atlanta, Georgia native says in an exclusive conversation with HipHopDX.

“But one thing I do know about 50 Cent after working closely with him, is that he’s a genius," he continues. "If he thinks that’s the best move for him, obviously I know he’s going do great. Wherever he goes, he’s gonna be the shit. I hope to be on his upcoming projects and now that there’s an opening at Shady/Aftermath/Interscope, I’m gonna see if I can get signed over there! [Laughs] I support [50 Cent] 150 percent. He can do no wrong in my eyes. Everything that I am, I owe to him. I support him.”

50 Cent announced that he has signed an independent distribution deal with Caroline/Capitol/Universal Music Group on Thursday, February 20. While the announcement may have surprised many, 50 Cent has been vocal about his frustrations with Interscope Records in recent years. “I have lost all faith in the team I’m on,” 50 tweeted in 2012, before later issuing an apology to the record label.

When asked about 50 Cent’s relationship with Shady/Aftermath/Interscope, Jack Thriller says that while the two work closely, they do not discuss record label business.

“I know 50 Cent on a whole-nother level,” Jack Thriller says. “A lot of the things that you see on the social media, you know how you get when you working on something and you’re not really paying attention to the background? I hear the music before it comes out and before everybody else hears it. But I don’t be knowing about the behind the scenes of the business.”

Jack Thriller began hosting segments on ThisIs50 in 2010. Away from the website, the comedian recently finished shooting the latest season of Nick Cannon’s Wild ‘N Out. He also plans to launch a comedy night in New York City and a cypher series intended to showcase new artists.

“I’m getting ready to start one of the biggest comedy nights in New York,” Jack Thriller says. “I’m bringing that whole Def Comedy Jam feel back to New York. I’m gonna make it an online series, too. My comedy night is going to be a tourist attraction. Brand new comedians that you’ve never seen before that deserve their shot.

“After that, I’m about to start a cypher,” he continues. “Kind of like a BET Cypher where it’s going to be hosted by myself and a special guest celebrity. It’s going to be up and coming rappers that I’m putting inside the cypher to give them a shot. I’m shooting music videos for independent artists. I’m doing things that the game don’t really offer anymore because they’re all looking for ready made stars. I’m showing you how to build a following at the same time.”
