Slum Village To Donate All "Yes Yes" Proceeds To J Dilla's Children
Slum Village says it will donate 100 percent of its "Yes Yes" proceeds to J Dilla's children.
Slum Village has announced that it will donate all proceeds from its new Jay Dee-produced single "Yes Yes" to Dilla's children. Joylette, who is the mother of Dilla's youngest daughter, Ja' May Yancey, spoke about the offering in a press release.
“I would like to thank everyone for the love and support and Slum Village and Yancey Media Group for donating the proceeds from this single to Dilla’s daughters,” Joylette said.
J Dilla passed away in 2006 after a struggle with Lupus. He was 32.
Common, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest and Erykah Badu are among the many artists Dilla worked with. His work was recently honored at Dilla Day Detroit 2014, an event that took place February 7. Dilla Day Detroit featured performances from several acts, including DJ Premier, Pete Rock, De La Soul and Slum Vill.
