ScHoolboy Q's

UPDATE: As ScHoolboy Q's "Oxymoron" nears its release date, TDE's Dave Free offers new pre-order numbers.

Top Dawg Ent.'s CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith has announced ScHoolboy Q's Oxymoron's pre-sale figures to date in a Twitter update made yesterday (February 11).

" pre-order lookin good at 23k. Da goal is 35k.That'll dbl pre-order & show da world how much has grown. We got work 2 do," Top Dawg said via Twitter.

Oxymoron is slated to be released February 25. For additional information regarding the project's cover art and tracklisting, click here

In September, ScHoolboy Q discussed the theme of the album. "This album is about me taking care of my daughter and Crip history from 1969 to present," Q said at the time.

In June, ScHoolboy Q spoke with HipHopDX about fatherhood.

“She's been knowing [this] since she was born,” ScHoolboy Q said in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX at the time. "Every time I walk out the house, she asks, ‘Where you going, the studio?’ It’s the first thing she say. She don’t say, ‘You ‘bout to go with the homies? You ‘bout to get some weed?’ She say, ‘Where you ‘bout to go, the studio?’ I’m kind of proud of that.”

During the June HipHopDX interview, ScHoolboy Q also spoke about his relationship with his daughter.

“I haven’t even raised my daughter yet,” he said. "She’s four years old. That’s how long I’ve been grinding, trying to get to this spot.”

UPDATE: Top Dawg Ent. president Dave Free announced updated numbers for ScHoolboy Q's Oxymoron's pre-sale figures. Oxymoron is "almost at" 35,000 pre-orders, according to the February 22 Twitter post by Dave Free, who goes by @miyatola on the social media platform. ScHoolboy Q ReTweeted Free's updated pre-sale numbers to his followers.

Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, who made the initial Twitter post regarding pre-orders, said at the time that 35,000 was a goal that the imprint was eyeing. While Tiffith did not update the sales figures, he commented on his role in TDE's partnership with Interscope. His most recent Twitter post regarding this subject says, "nothin happens wit artist until i push da button. albums get dates & drop when i say so. interscope is my partner but i call all shots!"

Shortly before making this comment, Tiffith also clarified that he is not the new Suge Knight, as one follower suggested. Instead, Tiffith said, "I'm the new me."

Rap nerds worry about how much Schoolboy will sell, the rest of the world just downloads and keeps it moving.

i guess if you're downloadin albums for free you shouldn't be able to speak on sales

I cant lie bro, I download all my music for free, the last album I actually paid money for was Recovery and before that Relapse. I can take my 10 dollars and buy a bag of weed or buy two Foitlong subs at Subway or put gas in my tank. You are stupid if you buy a album because these fucks will take your money and buy a Rolex and then brag about it.

    1. Tupac 2. Nas 3. Rakim 4. Notorious B.I.G 5. Ice Cube 6. Jay-Z 7. KRS One 8. Andre 3k 9. Big Boi 10. Big Pun
    • Truth
Pac is overrated because he died on the top. Imagine if Coolio died, when he was on the top, he would be praised as much as Pac and if pac still lived he would probably be called things like "old" "old crackhead" "old ass crackhead"
    • ballsdeep
Well.. I respect your opinion, but do you seriously think Ice Cube is better than Andre3000?? Like sure Cube is a pioneer and a legend and all that but if you're basing this on legendary status then KRSone should be top 3. p.s. Jay-z Is not a top 10 MC/rapper/whatever..
    • Reply to Truth
Obviously you're still hurt by all of your favorite rappers dug into while he was alive. It's okay lol.

Looks like the top 10 for only New York City. Other regions don't respect your blatantly bias local rankings, being passed off as nationwide.

^^ Who else did you want on the list, nikka? Twista? Scarface? Xzibit? Bun B? Common? Too Short? LMAO fuck outta here

This project should of dropped Q1 last year. Some of the tracks been out forever, Collar gears been out for almost 8 months! Why it made the album is beyond me. Its hard to get hyped up about an album when 1/3rd of it been out for damn near a half of year. The tracks we are left with are basically fillers however a couple of them might become singles. Speaking of singles, School boy q, already burnt through all his singles with this one really. So we are left with an album that will be loosing replay value very very soon. Top dawg, made a huge mistake not dropping his album last year. If you guys remember, school boy q buzz was through the roof at the time. He would of easily did anywhere between 80-120K first week. However now in a young 2014 his buzz is light. No single of his cracked top 40 billboard. And honestly I wouldn't be surprise if this guy don't hit 50k first week.

"People got tired of him, seeing as his second album flopped hard with no hit singles" That was the label's fault. A lot of people still like this guy. I agree those singles sucked. That right there is his fault, and something he needs to fix.
    • Anonymous
You can't blame the label for an album flopping. 2 Chainz is overexposed, less and less people are starting to like him.

Gangsta 7/10 Not a bad start for an album. Beat as that westcoast feeling, the only problem is that the thematic doesnt fit Q cuz he aint and he will never be a gangsta. He should keep that feel to Jay Rock tbh. Los Awesome 5/10 These synths are annoying as ****, people praising this cuz its produced by Pharrell, but not everyhting that Pharrel touches hasa to be great. Jay Rock feature seems random and out of place, he should jump on Gangsta or Blind Threats. Collard Greens 8.5/10 Def one of the highlights of the album and nice move dropping this as a single. Prob the track that was hyping this until the release. What They Want 6.5/10 Meh Schoolboy on a Mike Will Beat ? If it was like My Hatin Joint it would be dope, but with a wannabe trap beat and a wannaabe trap rapper no thanks. Ima skip this Hoover Street 6.5/10 Not bad i **** with that beat chaange, but Schoolboy is so so bad rapping here, filler more filler. Studio 7.5/10 Nice beat and nice hook. Imma keep this cuz of that, i mean we all listen Schoolboy cuz of that right ? Cuz he`s average as **** and will never be more than that. Prescription 7.5/10 One of the most meaning tracks here, but this hook is terrible omg. The Purge 5/10 Nothing to say about this, will never hear it again more than once. Blind Threats 8/10 The Raekwon feature fits perfect on this track. Def one of the highlight of the album, this track has that 90`s feel and is really good. Hell of Night 8/10 Imo Q has a hit here and he should push this as the next single. Amazing Dahi prod and this would have a few raddio and club spins fo sho. Break The Bank 8.5/10 Prob my fav on this Man of the Year 8.5/10 Really good track and wise pushing this as a single, cuz is the most catchy song on the album. His and Her Friend 6/10 This seems random as ****, typical filler. Only good thing about this is SZA voice. Grooveline Pt 2 6.5/10 Not bad, but nothing like the original pt 1. **** LA 7.5/10 This track is raw, nice way to end the album. Overall 6.5/10 This album has a couple of remarkable tracks, but certainly aint a consistent album. Imo the promotion was good, cuz he pushed the best tracks to singles (only Hell of Night should be a single), but a lot of fillers made the final cut, which makes this album average as ****. H&C has a better concept, beat selection and less random music than this def, but less highlights. Stiill waiting to hear the bonus tracks, but this album will never be better than a legit 7/10. A lot of haters and even more groupies praising this with no reason, cuz thee first word that comes to my mind to describee this is : Disappointment.

Or maybe this is main hobby outside of whatever he does for a living? Or maybe he does give reviews for a living? Some people are more into music than you are....

I haven't even heard the album yet and I predict that what you've said is basically exactly what I'll end up thinking about the album. Q at his best picks amazing beats, throws in the best adlibs ever, and has a nice hook and brings some good energy, but too often he comes with lackluster lyrics and poor hooks.
    • Delaware
Yo this fucking review comment is so on point its not even funny. Salute bro, you said everything possible about it. I listened through a couple times....not bad...not that great
    • twoholla
You hit it on the nail with your review. In an interview, Q said this album would be about 'crip history' & taking care of his 'daughter' (YEAH RIGHT!!!). Where are the gangsta narratives, the self-reflective tracks, etc. For a perfect 'gangsta' LP they should've put Q up in a locked room for a month with a couple of cartons of hostess twinkies & Scarface's 1st seminal solo LP, "Mr. Scarface is Back." I bet you Q then would've come out with the gangsta of gangsta albums...instead we get this half-baked average-ass collection of chest-beating songs. SHAME ON YOU TDE for slacking on the QUALITY CONTROL. They release Kendrick & Isaiah Rashad (it's dope & better than this Q album)...& then you totally strike out with this Q stuff????
    • Anonymous
Like I said days ago on 2 Chainz & Q news, this album is a disappointment. It sure has some actually good tracks, but overall it disappoints the listener. Q could've done so much better.. His mixtapes are much better.

Lol, every review I see of this album always hates on Los Awesome, The Purdge, and some other random track. Such under-rated songs. If you like those songs this album is easily a great record. Its a major release with major bangers, if you expected something else then sorry guys, you believe in shit too much.

Los Awesome sucks though, Jay Rock got the shaft

BruthaDee / Max the type of nigga who lurks Rick Ross IG, waits for a nigga to hate on him for remaking a Biggie song, then calls him an freakish dude!! He couldn't call him a white geek that time because it was a black guy hating on his hero Ross. Then he clicked on the mans IG and proceeded to leave more keyboard warrior comments on the mans photos about his looks all because he dissed Ross!!! HAHAHAHAH A 40 yr old guy is really out here creeping at young dudes pictures and calling them ugly and freakish because they're not sexy enough for him. It's no wonder this guy is always asking for our Twitter and IG's and complain about DX commenters not having to show their faces!!!! HES A HOMO THUG!!!!!" "BruthaDee is a career groupie, just ignore him. He be on here callin people geeks and nerds while he's on IG defending Ross like thats his daddy... He definitely gets no bitches or sex. Them selfies he taking in his shitty car ain't working out. He's super ugly too which is ironic because he likes to take shots at other black males appearances while he cheerleads for an overweight slob with rolls on the back of his head!!!! BRAP BRAP BRAP" A career groupie would imply that this delusional demented old ass negro gets paid to be all up on Rozays dick everyday of his life. I don't think Ricky wants mentally ill 40 years olds STANNING (He hates that word but it's what he is) him online making all his fans look like beotches.
