ScHoolboy Q Clarifies "Tell Kendrick Move From The Throne" Lyrics

ScHoolboy Q says it's his turn in regards to his Kendrick Lamar mention on "Break THe Bank," reveals that the song was recorded in 2012.

TDE rapper ScHoolboy Q kicked off this week’s interview on “Rap Fix Live” by addressing his Oxymoron record “Break THe Bank” and a particular line on the song in which he raps, “Tell Kendrick move from the throne, I came for it.”

While speaking on the Kendrick mention on "Break THe Bank," which he says he recorded in 2012, Q credited K-Dot for being “an awesome artist” and says the line was his way of saying it’s his turn.

“I don’t like Kendrick. Nah, he’s an awesome artist,” ScHoolboy Q said in an interview with MTV. “But I’m just saying it’s my turn, man. That’s all. It’s just my turn.”

ScHoolboy also commented on a promise Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith made via Twitter to release six TDE albums this year. The TDE wordsmith says he’s heard a handful of songs from the six TDE projects promised this year.

“I heard Isaiah’s. I heard Ab-Soul’s,” he said. “And just mines. I just heard a few SZA records, not the whole project. I heard a few Kendrick records and I heard a few Jay-Rock records, but I haven’t heard nothing like—the full project besides Isaiah’s and Soul’s.”

Lastly, Q spoke on the number of adjustments he’s made to Oxymoron. According to the rapper, he’s had to make two year’s worth of changes to the LP.

“Man, I lost count. Lost count,” ScHoolboy said. “Like two year’s worth of changes. You know what I mean? I haven’t dropped nothing since 2012. The top of 2012. So yeah, it’s a bunch of stuff. I mean, I still got songs on my album that I recorded in 2012. You know what I mean? Cause the records are so great to me. ‘Break The Bank’ was a record that was recorded in 2012. That was old. That was right when Kendrick album dropped…It just so happens that he’s nominated for seven Grammys now.”

Following delays, ScHoolboy Q’s Oxymoron is currently slated for release on February 25. Q referred to the album as his “best work” yet and commented on the project being a classic during an interview with TheStashed.com in August 2013.

“It’s a classic album I would like to say, but I would like the people to say it’s a classic,” he said. “But in my eyes it’s a crazy album…I’m really proud of myself for this record.”
