Isaiah Rashsad Discusses Goals, "Cilvia" EP
Isaiah Rashad reveals whether his debut EP will feature any artists.
Isaiah Rashad has only been signed to Top Dawg Entertainment since September of last year, but he's got his sights set on self-improvement in the new year.
"My goal for 2014 really is to continue growing," said Rashad in an interview on Revolt TV. "I'm pretty new to this. Continue growing, and try to see as much as I can see. Travel as much as I can. That's what I really want to do with the music. Yeah man, so I can as much of the world [as I can]."
Rashad continued, speaking on how long he's been involved in music. "To me, I've been writing to myself and creating to myself for so long. As far as sharing my music with the community, with the world, it's like a year or two. Ain't too deep into it. I'm just giving myself time to grow. Ain't trying to hit a wall too quick, go above myself."
The conversation turned to Cilvia, his upcoming EP. "The vibe [is like] when you cleanin' up around, you throw something on, and you just vibin' to it," he said. "You just catch the feelin'. That's how it's supposed to be. That's how I want my music to feel. That's what stuck with me when I was a kid. Even now, in the music I listen to, I like the stuff I can just throw on at any time. I don't like music that's just party-appropriate... Just create a vibe. Take me out of where I'm at, bring me somewhere else."
As for features, Rashad revealed that the project would have slim to none. "I didn't want to get signed and then cheat, use the cheat code," he said. "I could've did the cheat code and got Kendrick, and got [ScHoolboy] Q, and got [Ab-Soul]... I just kept it by myself."
Isaiah Rashad spoke to HipHopDX about Cilvia earlier this month, saying, "I just hope it’s something they play over and over. That’s really it, and have them live up to it."
