Macklemore & Ryan Lewis To Perform At 2014 Grammy Awards
Ryan Lewis and Macklemore join a list of performers which includes John Legend, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, the duo that released The Heist in 2012, has been added as a performing act on this year's Grammys. The duo joins a list of performers which includes Paul McCarney and Ringo Starr, founding members of The Beatles.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are up for several Grammys, including one for the Best Rap Album category. Macklemore recently spoke about his nominations during an interview with The Source.
"If we win a Grammy for Best Rap Album, Hip Hop is going to be heated," he said.
During the interview, Mack acknowledged that he believes the award should go to Kendrick Lamar.
"In terms of [that category], I think it should go to Kendrick [Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d. city]," Macklemore said. "He's family. TDE is family, and I understand why Hip-Hop would feel like Kendrick got robbed [if he didn't win]. I'm not trying to compare albums; I think you can make an argument for both. With that being said, I am a huge supporter of what Kendrick does. And because of that, I would love to win in a different category. We obviously had massive success on commercial radio, and I think that, in ways, The Heist was a bigger album, but Kendrick has a better rap album."
Kendrick Lamar is among a previous list of 2014 performers for the Grammy Awards. Pharrell and Robin Thicke are also among the evening's performers.
CBS is slated to air the 56th annual Grammy Awards on January 26.
