A photo of Kendrick Lamar and Alchemist in the studio was posted on Twitter by #TheNQM. The Compton rapper is standing in front of a shelving unit filled with vinyl records, while Alchemist sits in a chair in front of recording equipment.

Kendrick Lamar has said that he plans to start working on the follow-up to his debut album, 2012’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, in January.  

He also said that he’s happy to be nominated for Album Of The Year at the Grammys.

“That’s crazy that it’s even in that [nomination] because that album is a really raw album,” Kendrick Lamar said of good kid, m.A.A.d. city album during an interview with Power 106 December 14. “It’s not too much crossover, so for them to even put it in that light, that’s a win by itself,” Kendrick Lamar adds. “So if I take it home, [that will be] even more of a crazy feeling.”

Alchemist is preparing the release of The Cutting Room Floor 3 and his Step Brothers project with Evidence. The duo’s Lord Steppington album is set to be released via Rhymesayers Entertainment January 21, 2014
