Kendrick Lamar Named Hardest Working Rapper By Songkick
TDE's Kendrick Lamar is listed among the hardest working artists in music.
Kendrick Lamar has been named music's "Hardest Working" rapper, according to songkick.com.
"This year’s results are especially mind-blowing," songkick.com says when presenting its findings. "We’ve seen a 15 percent increase in distances travelled by the biggest acts in the last 12 months. As artist incomes rely more and more on the live music industry, it’s clear that bands are increasingly willing to tour further and tap into new and emerging markets."
In April, Lamar announced his "good kid, m.A.A.d. city Tour." When announced the tour boasted a schedule that included 60 shows, 15 countries, 23 headline concert dates, 22 international festivals and 15 United States summer festivals, as HipHopDX reported in April.
More recently, Kendrick Lamar has also been an opener on Kanye West's Yeezus tour.
In October, Lamar spoke about how touring with West was helpful.
"We'll be going into the middle of December, which is a blessing," Kendrick Lamar said during an interview with Revolt. "A lot of people don't get the opportunity to be on a major stage in front of that many people and be able to learn. I'm just taking it all in stride and being a student of the game because Kanye [West], he's a great performer. I'm not too shabby, like I said, again, but I'm just there really to challenge myself, grow myself and take that next level."
For the year, Lamar has performed in 171 shows, as per songkick.com. The number places Lamar as the second hardest working musician overall. Local Natives earned the top slot with 188.
songkick.com also counted distance traveled by artists as part of its criteria. Lamar also came in second in this area, with more than 229,000 kilometers traveled. Alt-J landed in first place with more than 251,000 kilometers.
