Pharrell Says He'd Like To Work With 50 Cent
Pharrell says he would be the "Mario Puzo" of the project and not the "Corleone."
During the outtakes, Pharrell was asked about fully producing a 50 Cent album to which he responded how he would do it if they ultimately came together.
"I would love that," Pharrell said. "But, you know, he would have to see why that makes sense...for himself. That doesn’t mean it makes the ultimate sense, I mean you know, people could read this and be like, what?! Ew, no. Don’t fuck with Pharrell.” You know? I would love to make an album with 50 that felt like a film. 'Cause he’s an actor. He’s an actor and a rapper and all these other things. I would wanna put all those talents together and try and make a cohesive body of work that was all about him.
"I’d just be Mario Puzo. I don’t have to be Corleone. I don’t have to be in it at all. I could just be the air in the room, which is just the storywriter or the backdrop. Cause he’s the storywriter."
50 Cent recently announced that he plans to release release of a "full body of work in January," according to Huffington Post. The "full body of work" may or may not be an album and it is set to include original material.
Toward the end of the outtakes, Pharrell dropped some hints about work he may have coming with film composer and music producer, Hans Zimmer.
"Just remember me and Hans Zimmer," Pharrell said when asked about how he manages different artists. "Just remember that. I can’t say anything else yet, but I’m super pumped up. And I rarely do that. I rarely tip people off, but this is Complex and Noah has always been incredibly, incredibly supportive. And has had a non-stop belief. I’m just incredibly thankful. Anything for you guys."
Pharrell and Zimmer have worked together before. Previously, Pharrell and Zimmer composed and produced the music for the 84th Academy Awards and participated in the drummer sessions of the soundtrack of Man of Steel by Zimmer.
