Chris Brown Enters Rehab Reportedly For Anger Management
Chris Brown enters rehab and could face four years of incarceration for assaulting Rihanna if he's found to be guilty of probation violation.
Brown's representative released a statement about the musician's rehabilitation plans.
"Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility," his representative said, as per cnn.com. "His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point."
The singer-rapper's rehab entry follows a recent fight that Brown was allegedly involved in. CNN reports that the simple assault charge from that fight could result in a probation revocation. According to cnn.com, the judge on the case may give Brown up to four years in prison for the Rihanna assault if he is found in violation of probation stemming from that case.
Brown and his bodyguard were charged with simple assault in the recent fight, which reportedly took place October 27. Brown reportedly spent 36 hours in a Washington jail for the altercation. He was taken to court in shackles Monday. Brown was released and ordered to report to his probation officer within 48 hours, as per cnn.com.
Brown's legal woes have been an issue in his career since at least February 2009, when Brown assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna. The incident resulted in a felony domestic violence conviction. He also violated his probation in August due to unfulfilled community service hours, as per cnn.com.
A probation status hearing for Brown has been set for November 20.
