Eminem Calls "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" A Revisitation

Eminem talks about his upcoming album, saying it is not necessarily a sequel as much as it is a revisitation.

Eminem, who is readying the release of The Marshall Mathers LP 2, recently discussed the album's expectations.

"Calling it The Marshall Mathers LP 2, obviously I knew that there might be certain expectations," Eminem says in an upcoming article by Rolling Stone. "I wouldn't want to call it that just for the sake of calling it that. I had to make sure that I had the right songs – and just when you think you got it, you listen and you're like, 'Fuck, man. I feel like it needs this or that,' to paint the whole picture."

Eminem continued, saying the album is "not necessarily a sequel, as much as it is a revisitation."

"So there's not gonna be, like, continuations of every old song on there or anything like that," Eminem says. "To me, it's more about the vibe, and it's more about the nostalgia."

Eminem Discusses Respect For Rick Rubin's Range

For The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem is working with his longtime producer-mentor Dr. Dre. He has also added Rick Rubin as a producer for the upcoming album, a producer who has worked in a variety of genres with artists such as Red Hot Chilli Peppers, System of a Down, LL Cool J and Beastie Boys.

"Getting with him was like, 'Holy shit.'" says Eminem. "As many genres of music that he is able to fuck with, he's like Yoda. I couldn't do it. You sit me there with a rock group, I don't know the first fucking thing about banging on the drums."

Eminem is slated to release The Marshall Mathers LP 2 November 5. The album is slated to include Skylar Grey, Rihanna and Kendrick Lamar.
