Daylyt Explains Dressing As KKK Member & Jesus In A Battle

Battle rapper Daylyt talks about why he decided to dress up as Jesus and a member of the Ku Klux Klan in a battle versus Interstate Fatz.

Daylyt is set to battle Head Ice Saturday October 12 as part of King of the Dot's Battle of the Bay 6 (BOTB 6) event in Oakland, California.

Daylyt recently spoke with HipHopDX about why he dressed up as Jesus and a member of the Ku Klux Klan in a February 2012 LA Battle Groundz face-off versus Interstate Fatz.

"That's when all hell broke out," Daylyt says in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX detailing this controversial match. "I'm going to tell you the whole story of that, the honest story of that. So big ups to my boy UGK. He's like my right hand man. Big Batmobile. Anywho, so he has a video online called 'Fly.' The song is about him having a walk with Jesus or whatever, him and Jesus playing basketball and all types of stuff. So, you know, I had to play Jesus in the footage or whatever. So we had the costume, which was the robes. We had the robe. We had the wig. We had all that stuff already, just the whole Jesus costume. Boom. So, you know, a couple of days before the battle, we're in the living room going over ideas and the costume fell out the bag. And I'm sitting there and I'm looking at the costume. He looks at me and he's like, 'You bet' not.' I'm like, 'What?' He like, 'Nigga, you bet'-fucking-not think about it.' I'm like, 'What you talking about, man?' 'Cause he knows me to the level, all you do is make eye contact and he knows what the fuck I'm about to do. So he's like, 'You bet' not. Don't even think about it.' I'm like, 'What man?' He like, 'I know what you thinking.' I said, 'What?' He said, 'You're going to wear the Jesus costume.' I said, 'You damn-fucking-right I am.'"

Daylyt Says KKK Costume Was "Deeper Than Just Battle Rap"

During the interview Daylyt also explains why he decided to wear a Ku Klux Klan costume in the battle.

"So I went in there," Daylyt continues. "I put it on. I said, 'How would this look if I'm battling?' He was like, 'I don't know, nigga. This look kind of disrespectful to Christians.' I'm like, 'Man, well I got something.' When he said it looked disrespectful, I said, 'I got something even more, more bigger than that.' He said, 'What?' I said, 'I'm about to go KKK on them, on top of this.' He said, 'Nigga, what are you trying to do?' I said, 'I don't know. I just want people to hate me 'cause hate goes very far.' Boom. Hate. I fucking come up with the KKK hat. I cut a little pillow case. I put the little birthday cone inside of it so it can stand up. Boom. Now I got the KKK hat. I try it on and then I say, 'Okay, why am I wearing this? What would be the point of me wearing this? Boom. I got it now, I got it.' If somebody asked me, 'Why did you do that?' My moral of this would be, in Battle Rap, it's gun-gun, kill-kill, pow-pow, clap-clap-clap. In all actuality, it turns out to look like Black-on-Black crime. That's what it looks like, in all actuality. Two Black niggas in a ring talking about how they going to fucking shoot each other or kill each other. That's perfect. Alright, so what I want to do is, I want this to look like White-on-White crime now. This is going to look like White-on-White crime. You have a White guy buy the name of Fatz who is saying how he's going to kill another Klan member.' Ah, this is dope. This is looking very dope to me. We need some more White-on-White crime in this world. So yeah, let's have another White guy talk about how's going to kill another Klan member. So that whole moral of the KKK outfit, you know, it was deeper than just Battle Rap itself."

This is not the only Daylyt performance which has been deemed controversial by some. In June, the rapper stripped during a battle and stood on stage wearing what he's referred to as a "hammock thong" made from a cellphone charger and napkins

Daylyt's upcoming Battle of the Bay 6 performance against Head Ice is one of the notable battles of the event. Other noteworthy battles at BOTB 6 include Dizaster versus Aye Verb, John John Da Don versus The Saurus and Pass versus DNA.

Pass spoke with HipHopDX yesterday (October 10) regarding his match-up against DNA.

i feel sorry for his kids

You should feel sorry for alot of these battle rappers' children. Imagine having to live off of a job that doesn't even pay that much. The prize money is relatively cheap. You're better of working at McDonalds - you could earn the same amount of money in an entire month.

Starving children around the world. Muslim women who aren't allowed an education. AIDS victims in third world countries. Fuck them these are the kids of battle rappers. THEY deserve your pity.
