Nelly Previews BET Cypher Verse

Nelly talks about his BET Hip Hop Awards cypher featuring Kevin Hart and other "Real Husbands of Hollywood" cast members.

Nelly is set to appear in a BET Hip Hop Awards cypher, which is also slated to include his fellow cast members from BET's "Real Husbands of Hollywood" program.

Nelly was originally skeptical about appearing in the cypher, which airs on BET October 15.

"When they brought us the idea and they said it," Nelly says in a clip published via allhiphop.com, "I think, from a sense of, well, 'What are we doing herre?' I'm probably the only one on there that does music. So it was a little iffy."

His worries were eased after consulting with his colleagues who appear on the program, including Nick Cannon, Kevin Hart and JB Smoove.

"But after talking to everybody, it was like, 'Okay, how we gon' play it?'" Nelly said. "Once we was like, 'Yo, we just gon' have some fun.' I was like, 'Alright, cool. Dope.'"

Nelly raps about Kevin Hart and Nick Cannon in a preview of his verse.

"The only rapper in this," Nelly raps in the video. "No disrespect to Nick / More heart than Kevin / More tall and all / The realest husband in Hollywood / No wife at all."

Conversation surrounding the BET Hip Hop Awards cypher was heightened after a clip featuring an excerpt from Kendrick Lamar's cypher verse was posted online. Though no names were mentioned by Lamar, the clip featured lines that were reportedly aimed at Drake. Those lines were also believed to be directed at Papoose by some

"Nothing's been the same since they dropped 'Control' / And tucked the sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes," Kendrick Lamar says in his cypher verse. "Ha-ha, jokes on you / High-five, I'm bullet proof / Your shits will never penetrate / Pin the tail on the donkey, boy, you've been a fake."

Snoop Dogg hosted the BET Hip Hop Awards, which were filmed September 28. Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q and DJ Khaled performed at the event, which is set to air on BET October 15.
