The Hip Hop Week In Review: Gucci Mane Goes Off, Kendrick Lamar Tells Rappers To Step Up

Gucci Mane goes after everyone on Twitter. Meanwhile, Kendrick Lama says rappers need to improve their responses to his "Control" verse.

This week, Gucci Mane reportedly went after Nicki Minaj and Tyga on Twitter, and both emcees responded. Gucci also sent shots at Waka Flocka Flame, putting Brick Squad's future in doubt, and Kendrick Lamar challenges emcees to step their bars up.

Gucci Mane Disses Nicki Minaj & Tyga On Twitter, Rappers Respond

On Monday (September 9), Gucci Mane's Twitter account dissed a slew of emcees on Twiiter, including Young Jeezy, Drake, 2 Chainz, and more:

 


Among the artists who responded was Nicki Minaj, who denied the claims from Gucci's Twitter account, and launched some barbs of her own:

 

 

Nicki and Gucci had a prior falling out, which Minaj described in April to Atlanta's Hot 107.9. At the time, Gucci was incarcerated, and Nicki revealed that she wished someone would "step in" for Gucci and have an intervention for him.

Gucci (or the person running his Twitter account) also went after Tyga:

 

Tyga, like Nicki, issued a response, referring to Gucci as "Burberry."

 

 

 


Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame & Others Beef Over Twitter

Gucci's Twitter antics didn't stop with just calling seemingly random artists out. On Saturday (September 7), long-standing tensions between Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame, as well as others in the Brick Squad camp boiled over, as Gucci dissed Brick Squad:






























Kendrick Lamar Tells Rappers To Improve Their "Control Responses"

Since Kendrick Lamar dropped his controversial verse on Big Sean's "Control," where he called out J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Meek Mill, Drake, and more, numerous emcees have responded to the track.

Thus far, Cassidy, Papoose, and Meek Mill are among the artists that have responded to the track.

In a brief clip courtesy of TMZ, Kendrick quickly assessed the quality of the responses. "They gotta try harder," he quipped:
