Big Sean Says Kid Cudi Still Part Of G.O.O.D. Music Family

Big Sean says that G.O.O.D. Music "adds a different quality" to music.

Even though G.O.O.D. Music has been going through a transition period recently due to the departure of several key artists, Big Sean says acts no longer on the imprint remain part of the family.

The Michigan rapper cites former G.O.O.D. Music artist Kid Cudi, who appears on the track “First Chain” from Big Sean’s forthcoming Hall Of Fame album, as an example.

Kid Cudi did his verse to the song after he left G.O.O.D. Music,” Big Sean says during an interview with Karen Civil. “And at the end of it, he say, ‘G.O.O.D. Music forever, nigga.’ And he was like, ‘What? You know what it is.’ Basically, we a fam, you know what I’m sayin’, and sometimes business shit doesn’t work out and things get tangled up, but through it all, we all brothers and we all just trying to push culture forward and make Rap better and quality.”

Kid Cudi left G.O.O.D. Music in April and producer Hit-Boy announced in June that he was no longer part of Kanye West’s label. The imprint doesn’t have a release date for Pusha T’s forthcoming My Name Is My Name LP and West’s Yeezus was released to mixed reviews in June.

Nonetheless, Big Sean, whose LP is slated for an August 27 release, says that his label brings something distinctive to music.

“Just like how MMG adds a certain quality,” he says, “just like Young Money adds a certain quality, G.O.O.D. Music adds a different quality.”

Athough Big Sean's recently released song “Control” featuring Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica is not slated to appear on Hall Of Fame, the collection is reported to include Lil Wayne and Jhene Aiko on “Beware,” Nicki Minaj and Juicy J on “Milf” and Miguel on “Ashley.”

Even though Big Sean is now dating Naya Rivera and no longer dating Ashley Marie, who inspired “Ashley,” he said to Karen Civil that he didn’t see a reason to remove the song from Hall Of Fame.
