Andre 3000 Album Not Planned For Early 2014
Andre 3000 does not have "a specific plan to release an album in early 2014," his rep says, countering a recent tweet from BET executive Stephen Hill.
Contrary to a tweet sent out by BET executive Stephen Hill Saturday (August 3), Andre 3000 does not have a solo album coming out in the next few months. "Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014," Andre 3000's rep says to Billboard.com, "there is no official confirmation on that report."
Sent Saturday, Hill's tweet reportedly came from a conversation the BET executive had with the OutKast rapper at an event recently.
Me: hey what's up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah...and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*— Stephen Hill (@StephenGHill) August 3, 2013
In May, the Atlanta rapper's mother, Sharon Benjamin-Hodo, passed away. In June, Cee Lo told HipHopDX in an exclusive interview that he hoped Andre 3000 would channel his mourning into music. "I'm hoping this really makes him angry enough to be artful again," Cee Lo said. "That's what I want for him."
Billed as Andre Benjamin, Andre 3000 portrays late Rock singer-guitarist Jimi Hendrix in the film All Is by My Side, which is slated for a September release. The movie is reportedly a drama focusing on Hendrix's pre-fame years.
