Wu-Tang Clan To Include Unreleased Ol' Dirty Bastard Music On New Album

Wu-Tang Clan planning on bringing "A Better Tomorrow" back to the groups "first essence."

It’s been nearly a decade since Wu-Tang Clan spitter Ol’ Dirty Bastard passed away following a drug overdose and despite the late rapper’s absence from music it appears that he may in fact be featured on Wu-Tang Clan’s upcoming album, A Better Tomorrow.

According to Inspectah Deck, RZA has a number of unheard verses from the late emcee and may include them on the 20th anniversary album when it’s released later this year.

“RZA has a bunch of Ol’ Dirty tracks and verses that for years nobody’s heard and, from my last conversation [with RZA], we’re supposed to have an Ol’ Dirty track on there,” said Inspectah Deck, according to Radio.com. “It may be by itself or we might join it on to another song. But Ol’ Dirty is going to be part of this album, that’s a fact.”

Later in the interview, Masta Killa assured fans that they can expect A Better Tomorrow to be heavily authentic thanks to the groups desire to capture their “first essence.”

“All I can tell you is that we’re striving for that first essence, that first sound of Wu-Tang, that first voice, that first everything,” Masta Killa explained. “I don’t think anybody’s expecting us to do what everyone else is doing, but instead what we do. Because that’s what’s actually missing out there.”

News of the addition of ODB to A Better Tomorrow comes shortly after it was announced that a holographic version of the rapper would perform at this year’s Rock The Bells music festival.

First announced last year, Wu-Tang Clan’s 20th anniversary album will likely see a November 2013 release.
