At this year’s BET Awards, Virginia songster Chris Brown served as the opening act at the Chris Tucker-hosted awards show as he performed a musical medley of songs, which included “Fine China” and “Don’t Think They Know.” Brown was later joined by Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj who floated above the audience in a flying cage at Nokia Theatre L.A. During his tribute, BET Awards honoree and former Gap Band vocalist Charlie Wilson was joined on stage by a bevy of artists including Snoop Lion, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell Williams. The quartet went on to perform a number of classic R&B cuts including “You Dropped A Bomb On Me” and “Girl You Knock Me Out.” Sans Timberlake, Wilson also performed Snoop Lion’s 2003 record “Beautiful” with help from the Reincarnated rapper and Pharrell.

Towards the conclusion of the show, Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz began his performance on a solo note as he performed the Pharrell-produced “Feds Watching.” He was later joined on stage by both Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky as the trio performed Rocky’s LongLiveA$AP single “Fuckin’ Problems” minus Drake, who was not present at the awards show.

Other artists to grace the stage at the 2013 BET Awards included Janelle Monae, Ciara, Robin Thicke, and more.
