Kidd Kidd Names His Top 5 Favorite Hip Hop Albums

Exclusive: One of New Orleans' most buzzing artists of the moment, Kidd Kidd selects five albums, all made by emcees born in New York City.

HipHopDX recently spoke to G-Unit/Rida Gang emcee Kidd Kidd. The New Orleans, Louisiana native reacted to his verse being removed from 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar's "We Up" single, as well as the recent murder of Tyson G-Strip. DX also asked the Sqad Up veteran and former Young Money Entertainment artist about his five favorite Hip Hop albums.

Kidd began with his current boss' 2003 major label debut. “Gotta be 50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Tryin’; [that album] bust the streets right back open. He brought the Gangsta Rap to the forefront of Hip Hop, you know what I mean. Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, definitely." He then turned to another debut album, this one the 1996 LP from hustler-turned-mogul. "I would say Jay-Z, the Reasonable Doubt [album], that was stupid crazy to me. I still listen to that to this day."

Staying in 1996, Kidd Kidd next selected the two acclaimed Death Row Records releases made by Tupac Shakur the year of his death. "Tupac, you know what I’m sayin’, I might even have to say two of Tupac albums, All Eyez On Me and [the album he released as] Makaveli [The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory]. I really love those albums."

Perhaps the most unlikely pick on Kidd Kidd's top five album list was the third LP from Nas, released in 1999. "Last but not least, I wanna say Nas, that I Am.. album. A lot of people slept on the I Am... album, you know what I’m sayin’, but that’s my favorite album from Nas. I love that album. So that’s my top five right there. Those albums I could listen to all day every day without skipping any [songs].”
