Since 1981, The Beastie Boys have crafted a pioneering hybrid of Hip Hop, Punk, Funk and other genre fusions. Ad-Rock, Mike D, along with the late MCA released eight studio albums, with the latest being 2011’s Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. It has been announced that Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz signed a book publishing deal with Spiegel & Grau, a Random House Group publisher. Spiegel & Grau previously published Jay-Z’s Decoded lyric-inspired memoir.

The result will reportedly be a 2015 co-written memoir on the New York City mainstay group. The Beastie Boys are “interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience,” said publisher Julie Grau said in an interview with The New York Times. “There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up.” The book was also compared to Grand Royal, the Beastie’s self-published magazine from the early ’90s. They later kept the name for their record label.

The book had been in discussions since prior to Adam Yauch’s death from cancer complications last year.
