The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 3/18/2013

Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z set the week ablaze with the "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" remix. Rihanna's star-studded remix to "Pour It Up" does just that, and Snoop Lion says "No Guns Allowed."

This week's Top 5 songs were all new additions of the last seven days. Remixes reigned supreme, as another track appeared in CD quality—with a missing component from its earlier version (much to Kidd Kidd's dismay). R&B also bounced back strongly, with a clear Hip Hop influence, as Beyonce's H-Town anthem "Bow Down," Rihanna's Southern star-studded "Pour It Up (Remix)" and John Legend's soulful "The Beginning" drove clicks and listened the last seven days.

Kendrick Lamar's Biggest Remix With Jay-Z On "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe"

While Young Guru premiered a snippet of Kendrick Lamar's Jay-Z-assisted "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe (Remix)" two weeks ago in Austin, Texas' South By Southwest, the song got the rightful release a week later. The highest-profile remix of KDot's career was a landslide winner on this site. Compton-to-Brooklyn banged hard with its symbolic Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant artwork only adding kerosene to the fire. Wisdom would suggest that this will not be the last time these two artists, nearly 20 years apart in each, will share a track. This one, as indicated by a TDE video released later this week, was not recorded in the same studio.

Snoop Lion's Gun Control Stance Is Joined By Drake

For the artist who famously debuted on a song about killing police officers on "Deep Cover," Snoop Dogg (now as Snoop Lion) has done a complete 180. The Doggfather, now an actual father, brought his daughter (as Cory B) and Drake on board for "No Guns Allowed." This is a benchmark release for the Long Beach, California superstar—who is actively promoting peace and non-violence in his forties. The message could be spread throughout his onetime LBC Crew, as former Snoop protege Bad Azz was involved in a physical attack on Ray J earlier in the week.
