Philadelphia-based Gilbere Forte inks a deal with Epic Records, and claims L.A. Reid's creativity was the top selling-point.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based emcee Gilbere Forte is the latest Hip Hop artist to sign to Epic Records. He follows an announcement in the last month of Epic inking another East Coast sensation, Vinny Cha$e and his Cheer$ Club.
"[L.A. Reid] and I connected on a very creative level," Forte told RapUp.com, after playing his music for the Epic Records staff at their New York offices. "That, to me—in my heart, I knew that Epic was the place to be." Previously, Forte, who worked for UNDRCRWN, has worked with Big K.R.I.T. and Tyga.
Gilbere's first single while with the label will be the Fiona Apple-sampling, "Pray." The song was released late last year, but appears to be re-released with the label's involvement.
