Ma$e Shares Notorious B.I.G.'s Advice, Compares Himself To Tupac

Ma$e says he got jewels from Notorious B.I.G. and that he's doing "what Tupac envisioned to do" with his life.

After discussing his release from Bad Boy earlier this week, Ma$e is back in the press, now focusing on other topics. In this interview for Sway in the Morning, Ma$e shared jewels that Notorious B.I.G. once gave him. He also said the Biggie/Tupac beef changed his perspective on life and added that he is doing "what Tupac envisioned to do."

"I remember B.I.G. used to always tell me stuff," he said in the piece. "He used to give me jewels and one of the jewels I gave to 2 Chainz when we was talking that while you're doing this you gotta do all you can and can everything you get because you not guaranteed to be loved next year. They lovin' you now. I understood that. That's what made me take advantage of doing something else."

But one of Ma$e's important life lessons came after B.I.G. was killed in Los Angeles.

"When Biggie passed, it changed my whole perspective for many reasons," he explained. "It was the first time I saw - ah, man, I'm on a truth campaign. It was the first time I saw people that were supposed to be who they are not act like who they are. That's the best way I could say that. Somebody that important, something happen to, and nobody respond?" ... If you don't rock for that, what you gon' rock for? At that point, my focus became different. If ain't nobody do nothing about this, I shouldn't think something's gon' happen different for me. So, my decision became real easy."

During the interview, Ma$e explained that he also learned a lot from Tupac.

"I believe I'm doing right now what Tupac envisioned to do but he never got around to doing because he wasn't able to make that decision."

He also explained that he is not beefing with Jim Jones or Cam'Ron saying that they are both his brothers.

More from the interview can be heard below.

Jay Z was no where to be found when biggie got killed, but that was his toy. Now he claims to be New York King, but was not repping when the beef was on. Only biggie, mobb deep, Nas, CNN were responding to the West Coast. I think Mase realized that the industry was fake with fake friends.

So lets get this all straight. He goes from Murder Mase to pastor, then comes back to rap then leaves to be a pastor again only to come back out again as a rapper. Mase was chased out of his hometown of Harlem and is always disrespected by Harlem rappers. Mase was also caught with a transgender prostitute in Atlanta while he was a pastor as well. This guy is really confused and basically a fraud rapper or a fraud pastor and either way he hurts people in the process.
  • What
He is right with that biggie statement for real, all these NYC niggaz talk mad trash, when he was alive, the nigga got killed off and no one and i mean no one did anything but to be scared period.
    • Truth
So true because people like Jay Z were quiet as a church mouse when that shit happened, but started talking shit after. Mobb deep, CNN and Nas were the only ones to respond to Pac and Jay Z was no where, yet he run around like he is the king of NY.

"I think hes right i think pac woulda left hiphop alone to try to be a positive role model for younger people if he had a chance to mature" I highly doubt that would have happened.

Pac wasnt like these self centered rappers now days that care about nothing except money. Pac was a leader for black people.

Mase may be an ok dude, but he contradicts himself too much. One minute he's rapping, the next he's pastor. Then he wants to rap again. By now he should be doing other things in his life that have nothing to do with hip hop.

A truth campaign, and speaking in code? Ma$e could clarify a lot of his comments. From a the perspective of his profession of a "minister," I'm confused by what he means to "rock for" and "not respond." All the more confusing, because B.I.G. is a legend in hip-hop. Tragic death, but his name is immortalized. Isn't that rocking for someone?

I'm confused by what he means to "rock for" and "not respond." ^ he means retaliation When Biggie got popped, nobody from his crew went and got the guns so that made Ma$e so shook he picked up a bible.

Mase is way better than Pac. Pac and BIG are so overrated.

    • jimmy
lol hes been through it, is he doing this for publicity sure, but he genuinly believes that, and I think hes right i think pac woulda left hiphop alone to try to be a positive role model for younger people if he had a chance to mature
