This week, Lupe Fiasco delivered on his promise to release Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, which HipHopDX described as Lupe being “inspired again, dishing out shifting dichotomies through a scattering of deliveries without encroaching on petulance.” Footage was also released of Lil Wayne’s pre-questions for his deposition in the lawsuit against Quincy Jones III for copyright violation. In the clips, Weezy gets extremely irate after a lawyer asks him basic questions about his career and life. Finally, Showbiz chopped it up with DX about his new album Mugshot Music and how Mac Miller‘s people are “moving foul.”

Lupe Fiasco Releases Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Pt. 1

After the many delays that pushed back Lasers, Lupe Fiasco delivers his new album Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 right on schedule. HipHopDX gave the review a solid 4/5 rating, claiming that the LP showed Lu returning to true form while digging deeper. “Lupe Fiasco remains as resolute as ever,” we said. “[T]here remains something noble about Chi-town’s Guevara relentlessly waving his beliefs without fear of backlash.” The Chicago, Illinois native said that the cover art for the LP, which is slated to move between 85,000 and 95,000 copies in its first week, was inspired by Johnny Cash. “I say, just listen to Johnny Cash’s ‘The Man in Black,'” he said. “The reason he wore black was because he wore it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime. There’s meaning behind it.”

Lil Wayne Gives Hilarious Deposition During Pre-Question Interrogation

Lil Wayne sued Quincy Jones III earlier this year for copyright infringement, claiming that he illegally used his music for The Carter documentary. TMZ got their hands on some footage from the deposition for the case, in which Weezy gets extremely irate at the questioning lawyer and begins to troll him in real life. But it takes a turn for the serious when he vaguely threatens the lawyer, stating, “[the judge] can’t save you in the real world.” On the career front, Wayne announced that his new album I Am Not a Human Being 2 will arrive on December 11th, and he beat Elvis Presley’s record for most hits on the Billboard Hot 100 with 109 songs to crack the chart.

Showbiz Says Mac Miller’s People Are “Moving Foul”

Showbiz is gearing up for the release of his new album Mugshot Music, releasing on October 9th. To prep for the LP’s release, HipHopDX chopped it up with one-eighth of the legendary Diggin’ In The Crates crew, speaking on a handful of topics including how the album is harder than Preloaded. He also touched on Lord Finesse’s lawsuit against Mac Miller for $10 million, stating there’s more to the story than what the public knows. “It’s not a mixtape thing with Finesse. That’s not what it is. That’s what it’s been brought to the masses as but that’s not what it is,” he said. He also supported Joey Bada$$‘s use of Finesse’s music, but claimed that Miller’s people were “moving foul.” Read the full interview here.
