The connection between Jay-Z and President Barack Obama has grown. Recently, Jay-Z and Beyonce hosted a fundraiser for President Obama. Now, the Marcy emcee is talking about why he will avoid politics as a career and why he feels “we need less government,” while also clarifying his support for President Obama.

“I don’t even like the word politics,” he told MTV in a recent interview. “It implies something underhanded and I think we need less government.”

He went further by clarifying his point, adding that he feels politicians “just argue” and “think about their next term.”

“To be honest with you I think a lot of people are serving their own agendas, so they just argue back and forth and they think about their next term,” he explained. “And it’s more about themselves than about the people. They’re servicing the people, but we rarely get anything done because they’re going back and forth with whatever they’re doing, so I’m not really into politics.”

Although he may not get into a career as a politician, he’s already had some impact in his support of President Obama. He explained that his support comes from a respect for President Obama’s vision.

“I support Barack because I gotta respect that sort of vision. I gotta respect a man who is the first black President ever,” he added. “To have that sort of vision and dream, I have to support that.”
