This was the week of beef in Hip Hop. Pusha T released his new cut“Exodus 23:1” featuring The-Dream, which was believed to include shots at Drake and Young Chop. Lil Wayne didn’t take too kindly to the track, so he released a Pusha diss track “Goulish.” Meanwhile, Lupe Fiasco released his new single “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free),” which features a reinterpolation of Pete Rock’s “T.R.O.Y.” beat. Pete immediately fired back at Lupe, claiming that the song was disrespectful to the track’s original intention. Finally, Ab-Soul chopped it up with HipHopDX, explaining the words that were aimed at The Throne.

Pusha T Fires Shots At Drake & Young Chop, Lil Wayne Hits Back

Pusha T’s beef with Drake reached new heights this week. The G.O.O.D. Music member released a new song featuring The-Dream titled “Exodus 23:1,” which featured lines that were believed to be veiled shots towards Drake and Young Chop. Lil Wayne stepped into the arena, tweeting “Fuk [sic] pusha t and anybody that love em,” while Kid CuDi came to Pusha’s defense on Twitter. Young Chop spoke with HipHopDX shortly after the song released, stating that he “should’ve been a bigger man” in this situation. But the track, about with Pusha T and The-Dream discussed its creation, elicited a response from Lil Wayne, who released his new song “Goulish” last night that featured lines about physically harming the Clipse member.

Lupe Fiasco Releases “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free),” Beefs With Pete Rock Over “T.R.O.Y.” Sample

Earlier this week, Lupe Fiasco released his new single “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free),” a cut that featured a reinterpretation of Pete Rock’s beat for “T.R.O.Y. (They Reminisce Over You).” Minutes after it hit the Internet, the veteran producer hit Twitter to state that he felt “violated” and that the instrumental “should be left alone.” Lupe said he was surprised by the anger over the cut, since he said he had gone through the proper channels, and the two later went to Twitter to state that they had patched up their differences. But the saga continued shortly after, with Lupe calling Sway Calloway on Shade 45’s Sway in the Morning and angrily stating that he wasn’t happy with how Pete handled it. Pete later clarified that he had given his blessing for the remade version of the sample on the condition that he be involved with the project, but nothing ever came of it, inciting his ire.

Ab-Soul Explains Competitive Shots Towards The Throne

On the cut “ILLuminate,” Ab-Soul spits out a few lines about Jay-Z and Kanye West, firing competitive shots at The Throne. “I used to want to rap like Jay-Z / Now I feel like I could run laps around Jay-Z / Nas ain’t seen nothing this Nasty / Big and ‘Pac got it coming when I pass too…,” he spit. The Black Hippy member spoke exclusively with HipHopDX about the lyrics, stating that “it’s just a little warning shot at The Throne. We coming.” He also recalled touring and recording with Murs, and explained the meaning behind his latest project Control System. Read the full interview here.
