The debate over the title of best emcee is one that has plagued fans and critics over the past three decades. Now, it looks like VH1 has entered the ring on the debate over the best rapper from the late ’80s to the early ’90s.

Dubbed the “Greatest MC of the ‘Yo! MTV Raps’ Era,” VH1’s new bracket challenges fans to pit some of the game’s most revered emcees against one another. Facing off against each other in the bracket are the likes of Chuck D and KRS-One, Ice Cube and Will Smith, LL Cool J and Rakim, and Queen Latifah and MC Lyte.

Voting for Round One began earlier today at 11 AM and will conclude this Wednesday April 25 at 4PM, with the remaining rounds to follow later this week.
